Oil Paintings and Limited Edition Reproductions by Rod Tribiger
Rod Tribiger was born and raised on a dairy farm in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. An early love of nature sparked an interest in exploring the wilderness, and with time that interest developed into a love of drawing. As Rod 's command of pencil-sketching developed, he soon incorporated color into his drawings by way of pastels. From pastels, he transitioned into acrylics, and finally into oils. Oil paint eventually became Rod's sole choice of medium, and his command of oils quickly developed into vivid oil-paintings depicting a wide variety of subject matter.
Rod’s oil paintings have over the years, been featured and marketed in galleries across Canada and the United States. His work has also partnered with the marketing and fundraising initiatives of various organizations including Ducks Unlimited Canada, Ducks Unlimited USA, Crime Stoppers, Stars Air Ambulance, The BC Wildlife Federation, The Canadian Bible Society, the Bradford Exchange as well as numerous other localized organizations.
Rod and his family reside in Kelowna, and Rod continues to transform blank canvases into captivating scenes. From wolves to human portraits, still life to scenery, the content of Rod's subject matter continues to expand.
Rod finds great satisfaction in continually refining his technique, and creating scenes that capture the eye and the imagination of the viewer.

The Road of Life is the title of one of my most unique paintings. The project began in the mid 90’s, and was completed over a time-period of approximately ten years.
This oil painting was inspired by a deep contemplation of life and the goal of this project was to capture into one single image, a person’s journey through life from beginning into eternity. Painted in oil on canvas, the image size of the piece is 54” x 76” and is the largest painting I have ever created.
What makes this piece unique from my other work, is the fact that it contains a large degree of symbolism. Each element in the image is representative of either a reality or a principle of a person’s journey through life.
The story of the painting begins in the immediate foreground of the image. In the luscious environment of a freshwater stream, life begins. The foreground area of the image is representative of what is spoken of in the biblical book of Genesis as Scripture describes the beginnings of life within the environment of a garden in a place called Eden. It was in Eden, where the existence of mankind first began.
Moving forward deeper into the image is representative of the passing of time, and as biblical history records, with the passing of time life on earth entered into a darkened existence as mankind wandered from Eden’s glory. This departure from God’s perfect creation resulted in the onset of death upon all of creation. Mankind’s journey through life became a journey surrounded by death, and even as Scripture speaks of a “valley of the shadow of death”, so the image depicts it.
Despite the shadows of death as symbolized by the darker tones in the painting, light shone into man’s existence from above. God sent His Son into the world, and through the existence of His Son, Jesus Christ, God planted a signpost on earth drawing all of mankind to a new opportunity for a new beginning. This signpost was in the shape of a cross. Not only did God provide a new beginning point, He also blazed a life-saving trail of light for all of mankind to follow. This narrow illuminated trail is depicted in the painting, and symbolizes the way of hope which any person can choose to journey upon. The pathway leads upwards out of the world of death and darkness, and into the glorious presence of God’s eternity above.
The painting is a snap-shot of life. Every person that has ever existed or exists today is somewhere in the painting. This is what gives this piece its uniqueness. The image enables the viewer to actually see right into his/her own life.
